Your task is to write a 3-to-4 paged paper (in 12pt, Times New Roman font, double-spaced, 1” margins) on an artist/band of your choice who was popular from 1950-1989. You may choose to focus on a group we have discussed in class, or perhaps someone who was not included, who you feel deserves to be mentioned (or featured) in a future History of Rock class.
Ideas to consider:
• how did they start out? from what city/area?
• who were their musical influences?
• did they work with a famous producer? or for a particular record label?
• what are some of the important songs or albums, and when were they released?
• how is their music a product of the times (i.e., their decade)?
• did their music have an impact on other artists? How so?
• why were you drawn to this artist personally?
